Country Folk/City Folk

I have narrowed it down to one determining factor. There are many differences between country people and city people, but there is one way to tell with absolute certainty who is who. Country folk generally ignore bugs (unless they swarm), while city people are bothered by even one insect if it enters their personal space.

The man who owns the 200 acres behind us stopped by for a chat recently. While he was talking I noticed a little orange-colored beetle walking around on his head and face. He did not seem to notice it, but I found myself wondering if he was merely ignoring the bug or if he could even feel it. Just as I was about to abandon my musings and return my full attention to the conversation, that little bug flew off my neighbor's head and into my shirt.

Shocked, and yet attempting to perserve my dignity, I managed through sheer determination to keep myself from searching for him. I clenched my teeth and smiled and nodded at what seemed to be appropriate moments. Truthfully, I have no idea what we were talking about. The only thing I remember is that those feet which had seemed so tiny while the beetle was walking on someone else, now seemed monstrous. I felt every step it took. You see, I am a city girl.
