Tide Pooling

Starfish have such personality. They lead a double life. Twelve hours a day they move about, feeding themselves, enjoying a leisurely stroll over rocks, coral, sand and shellfish, cracking the occasional mollusk or oyster shell with their powerful arms. . . . Then the tide goes out and they are temporarily frozen mid-gesture. My pal, Lydia, and I took several pictures of these exposed creatures when we took the kids tide pooling yesterday.

The secret lives of Starfish:

"Hey there little buddy!"
"Look how strong I am Dad!'
"Wow! Come here let me give you a little noogie."

Hurdle jumping

Very nice pictures. I haven't been tidepooling. I may get the chance in Sept. when our homeschooling group does a Not Back to School beach trip.

Oh, that so makes me miss the beach. We moved from CA four years ago, and I sure miss it. Luckily, we're going on vacation in September. I'll definitely have to get to the Dana Point tidepools!
