It was peaceful, cool and dark as Edison and I walked in the woods behind our house. Suddenly, he began to snicker.
"What is it?" I asked.
"You'll see."
A little farther and he was consumed with giggles.
"What?" I asked again. He couldn't speak, but pointed up. There, hanging from a branch in the deep woods was a pair--his pair--of molding underwear.
I've always wondered about what I deem to be essential articles of clothing left in strange places. Now I know some originate with silly little boys. I still wonder about the appropriate response to underwear dangling from a tree. . . .
