Just So

I've tried to like Kipling's Just So Stories. They're classics, after all. So, every few years I try to read them again, and every few years I return the book to the library without finishing it. Then I discovered that there was an audio version with Geoffrey Palmer reading. Geoffrey Palmer is that wonderful Englishman who plays opposite Judy Dench in As Time Goes By. His name on the box convinced me to take a chance on this version. It is absolutely terrific! We play it on those long car rides into town and the kids laugh out loud (especially Edison, who has a ticklish spot for silly things). Hearing the stories read aloud in an English accent makes all the difference. That, and having an appreicative audience enjoying the stories with me.
